Journey & Inspiration
As the mother of a child with severe neurodevelopmental challenges, Prof. Mandy Pearson gained profound personal insight into resilience, adaptability, compassion and the importance of holistic care.
Her son, born prematurely with quadriplegia, severe epilepsy and multiple complex health complications, became her greatest teacher and most profound source of inspiration. Despite the challenges he faced throughout his life, he demonstrated extraordinary strength, forgiveness, love, empathy and an unwavering determination to survive.
His life inspired and motivated Prof. Pearson to dedicate herself to helping others, particularly those who are vulnerable, disadvantaged or unable to advocate for themselves.
Prof. Pearson is the founder of three South African non-profit organisations: Tekkie Day Non Profit Foundation NPO 100 -545 established in 2012, Red Willow Foundation (NPO 100-377 established in 2012), and NADA Health SA (NPO 221-951 established in 2018). Through these organisations, she has brought together education, humanitarian service and community empowerment to provide practical support to people and communities in need.
Her work as a philanthropist was profoundly influenced by her son, who remained by her side throughout her professional and humanitarian journey—including while she worked, lectured and served others. His remarkable will to survive, endurance, forgiving heart, capacity for love, empathy and resilience inspired her beyond measure and helped shape her lifelong philosophy of service.

Vision & Mission
Prof. Pearson envisions a world where the vast majority of people wake up inspired, feel safe, healthy and fulfilled. As an unshakeable optimist, she believes in humanity's collective ability to build this world together.
This philosophy is particularly relevant when working with individuals who may be experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, substance misuse, trauma, violence, abuse, or exclusion from conventional healthcare systems. People should not have to prove that they deserve help before receiving compassionate support.
It is a philosophy of service. That survivors who cannot speak about trauma still deserve care.
That people who cannot afford private rehabilitation still deserve an opportunity to begin recovery.
That communities can be empowered with practical skills rather than remaining entirely dependent on inaccessible systems. And that healing is strengthened when healthcare professionals, counsellors, community organisations, and other support structures work collaboratively rather than in isolation.
